How this list is built

Most local directories inherit whatever the aggregators have, including the garbage. We start somewhere else.

The sources

• TDEC DataViewer — Active Pumpers & Installers. A live state license roster, searchable by county. This is the spine of the dataset.
• TDEC Approved Soil Consultants. The statewide roster of professionals authorized to produce the soil maps that permits require.
• Williamson County Service Providers. Six lists the county maintains for its own program: installers, pumpers, soil scientists, engineers, surveyors, and laboratories.

What verification means — and doesn't

A verified listing was matched to an active roster entry on the date shown. That is a narrow claim and we intend to keep it narrow. It is not an endorsement, not a quality judgment, not an insurance check, and not a warranty. Tennessee installer permits expire on December 31 each year, so the verification date matters and we always show it.

Common questions

Where do these listings come from?

Primarily the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation DataViewer, a live state roster of active septic installers and pumpers searchable by county, plus the six provider lists Williamson County maintains for its own program. Both are public records maintained by the permitting authorities.

What does "verified" mean here?

That the business was matched to an active entry on a state or county license roster on the date shown. It does not mean we inspected their work, endorse them, or checked their insurance. A listing that is not on a roster says so plainly.

Can a business pay for better placement?

No. Placement is not for sale. If that ever changes, sponsored placement will be labeled and kept separate from the ordered list, and this page will say so before it ships.

Why do some listings have no phone number?

Because we have not confirmed one. Roughly half the septic operators on this corridor have no real website, and the aggregators carry dead numbers, duplicate records, and businesses that share a line. We would rather show a gap than a wrong number.
